Depok - BNPT continues to prioritize optimizing the protection of Indonesian citizens (WNI) abroad who are often the target of terrorism threats. This effort was outlined by the implementation of the Follow-up Meeting for the Preparation of the Inter-Ministry/Institutional Coordination Mechanism related to the Protection of Indonesian Citizens Abroad from the Threat of Terrorism on Thursday (18/3/21) in West Java.
Previously, in the 2020 budget year through the Directorate of International Legal Instruments, the Second Coordination Meeting of the Formulation Team for the Preparation of the Inter-Ministry/Institutional Mechanism related to the Protection of Indonesian Citizens Abroad from the Threat of Terrorism had been held with the production of analysis and evaluation materials for BNPT as the coordinator to then be able to determine the direction of effective policies.
In order to continue this, this activity was carried out to further discuss the scope of the substance needed in preparing the draft Presidential Regulation on the Protection of Indonesian Citizens Abroad from the Threat of Terrorism. The Ministries/Institutions present included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Ministry of Manpower, the Indonesian National Police, BAIS TNI, BIN, and BP2MI.
In the coordination meeting held directly and virtually, the activities were filled with discussions on the articles of the Draft Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia concerning the Coordination of Protection and Handling of Indonesian Citizens Abroad from Criminal Acts of Terrorism and listening to opinions from representatives of the Ministries/Institutions present.
In the future, this Presidential Regulation aims to improve coordination and cooperation between ministries and/or related institutions regarding the protection and handling of Indonesian citizens abroad and provide technical instructions for related ministries and/or institutions in carrying out coordination and cooperation to provide protection and handling for Indonesian citizens abroad.
