Yogyakarta - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) is actively making efforts to improve public information services. One of the efforts is realized by collaborating with KIP, with the hope that KIP can help evaluate existing information services.

"The hope is that there will be an increase in BNPT's public information services so that it gets a public information assessment that meets informative standards so that the BNPT institution will be better in the future. We hope that KIP can help us evaluate existing public information services," explained the Head of the Legal Division of Public Relations and Information Technology, Lieutenant Colonel Sus. R. Tjandra Sulistiyono, M.Han., in the 2023 Public Information Disclosure Evaluation Meeting and the 2024 BNPT PPID Work Plan at the Swiss-bell Hotel Yogyakarta on Wednesday (22/5).

One of the momentums to assess the extent to which public agencies have carried out their obligations towards public information services is Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev). However, Monev is not to provide a ranking for public agencies but rather to see how public agencies have implemented Information Commission Regulation Number 1 of 2021 concerning Public Information Service Standards. This was conveyed by the Central Information Commissioner, Syawaludin.

"This monitoring and evaluation is not actually looking for champions 1, 2 and 3 but we actually want to see how public bodies have implemented the standards in the Information Commission Regulation Number 1 of 2021. The point is we want to see all public bodies implementing the standards," he said.

Reflecting on the results of the 2023 BNPT Monitoring and Evaluation, one aspect that needs to be completed in this year's assessment is the completeness of BNPT activity or program documents to facilitate the verifier.

"The quality of information is dynamic, for example regarding BNPT activities or programs, mention what the activities are and then it can be completed with existing activity documents, so that the verifier does not find obstacles when assisting," he added.

The right of every individual to obtain information has been guaranteed in the constitution. BNPT will continue to strive to fulfill the public interest in this right by providing information that is easily accessible, valid and complete.

For information, the Information Commission (KI) as an independent institution born from Law No. 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure is tasked with carrying out the mandate of the Law, one of which is implementing Public Agency Monitoring and Evaluation.
